You can upload in YouTube Studio but cannot connect a scheduler: why?

Separate delegated YouTube Studio permissions from API authorization and verify which identity can connect the intended channel.

A Studio role and an API grant are different permissions

YouTube's channel-permissions system lets an owner delegate supported tasks without sharing a Google Account password. Its role table includes managers and editors who can perform native publishing actions. The same documentation lists YouTube APIs among the areas invited users cannot access. Therefore, a successful upload inside Studio is not enough to establish that the invited identity can authorize a scheduling integration for that channel.

This is a specific documented boundary, not a claim that all channel connection failures have the same cause. You may also have selected a different Google identity, chosen the wrong channel, or encountered another authorization problem. Begin by identifying the permission path rather than changing file formats. A media export cannot repair an account that lacks authority for the operation being requested.

Map the people, Google identities, and channel

Record the intended channel's public URL or ID, the person responsible for it, and the identity currently signed in during authorization. Confirm whether your access is through a Studio invitation and which role you hold. Keep channel permissions distinct from any legacy Brand Account arrangements or the publisher's own workspace roles. Similar role names across systems do not imply identical powers.

The table below is a diagnostic worksheet, not an instruction to transfer ownership or broaden permissions. Use it with the channel owner to determine the supported connection path. Share public identifiers and redacted screenshots where useful, never passwords or live access tokens. The owner should understand which app is receiving access and what operation it will perform before completing authorization.

Use the supported authorized identity

Ask the channel owner and publisher which identity should complete the connection for your setup. Where an authorized owner must connect the channel, have that person perform the authorization themselves. Do not ask them to send a password so a delegate can impersonate the owner. After connection, check the saved channel identity rather than assuming the selected profile picture proves the correct destination was attached.

The publishing product's collaboration controls are a separate layer. A workspace may let colleagues use an already connected destination, but that depends on the product's actual permission model. Verify the supported arrangement before promising a team workflow. In Ferryman, inspect the workspace and destination behavior you intend to use; a native YouTube role does not automatically define permissions inside Ferryman, or vice versa.

Confirm with a narrow test and a useful error report

Once connected through a supported path, test with harmless owned content and an appropriate visibility setting. Verify the intended channel, final video, and who can perform the ongoing publishing task. Record the successful setup so future team changes do not recreate the same confusion. A one-time owner connection should not become an undocumented dependency on a departing contractor's personal login.

If authorization still fails, send support the exact error, timestamp, intended channel ID, selected account type, and whether the operator is an invited delegate. State that native Studio upload works, but do not present that as proof of API eligibility. Preserve the distinction between account authorization and media publication. It helps support investigate the correct boundary instead of recommending repeated uploads that cannot solve the access problem.
